It’s everyone’s favorite time of day: Happy Hour! That moment when the workday is done, and you head on down to your favorite local digs to grab a drink and a bite or two – an American tradition if we’ve ever heard of one! Where are the best happy hour spots around South Lake Union though? We’re so glad you asked.
For today’s blog, we’re running down the list of our 5 favorite SLU happy hours, from Terry Ave to Denny Way, up and down Westlake, and beyond. Of course, we’re always exploring options around our neighborhood, so this list is subject to grow as South Lake Union does, too!
5. El Grito Taqueria
The spot on this list that is the newest to South Lake Union, El Grito has a double-whammy of a happy hour if you hit it on a Tuesday afternoon: not only do the regular bar snacks and drink specials still stand (daily from 3-6pm), but Taco Tuesday means you can get unlimited $2 tacos all through the night. We recommend the beer-battered cod – you’ll thank us later.
Ok, so this spot technically is in Belltown, but it’s just steps away, so we’re counting it. With mules and draft beers at lower prices than normal, a generous happy hour from 4-8pm daily, and mac ‘n cheese that is to die for, this “Kentucky Bourbon Bar” earns a spot on our list for sheer inspiration. When you see the decor inside, you’ll see what we mean.
3. Brave Horse Tavern
While the hours themselves can be a bit confusing for Brave Horse Tavern happy hour drinks (4-6pm every day except Sunday, + 9pm-close Sunday through Thursday), the selection of over 30 beers on tap makes it well worth the effort. Not to mention, food is on the Sun-Thurs late night happy hour menu, and you will not want to miss those cheese curds or hot wings!
2. 2120 Restaurant
This stylish joint has our heart not just because of the delicious food and the late night happy hour specials on food and drinks. No, the real reason to visit 2120 is for the amazing cocktails that come with even more amazing names. “Czech Yourself,” anyone? You can even get a “Try This.” or the “Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peach” for good measure!
One of our favorite happy hour spots in Seattle has got to be this 429 Westlake Ave N joint, where late night happy hour goes until 1am Monday through Saturday, which comes after the already generous 7-days-a-week 4-6pm happy hour. With an impressive whiskey selection rivaled only by a wine list with options to spare, Re:public certainly offers quite the inspired selection for any palate. Whatever you choose, we promise it’ll pair amazingly with the prime fillet bites – you couldn’t spend a better $10 anywhere this side of Lake Union.
